I'm originally from Colorado. After graduationg from College in 2005 I found a job in Nagano and move to Japan at the ripe old age of 22. After spending a year working at a Yochien (kindergarten) in Nagano I moved to Tokyo where I worked at a few different daycares/preschools teaching English for the next 2 years. In August 2007 I met my husband. From there I ended up engaged, pregnant, married, and finally quit my last job in Feb 2008.
My son, Yosei, was born in March 2008; a micropreemie 3 months before his due date. He spent 3 months at the NICU in Otsuka Hospital before finally coming home in June of 2008. He's still very small for his age, and has a speech delay but is a healthy active kid despite all he's been through. He started attending Yochien November 1st 2011.
My daughter, Keia, was born in September 2010 full term and healthy. She's currently perfecting her walking skills, and is quite the talker (no speech delays here). She's currently into shoes and bags.
Our family is Buddhist; I converted in January of 2010.
I'm hoping to document the adventure of raising my bilingual half-Japanese kids on here, and explaining some of the 'fun' cultural stuff that comes along with it. Enjoy!

Being half Japanese doesn't refer to their citizenship. Their father is Japanese, I'm not. If I wanted to go into detail I could say half Japanese, 1/4 Native American, and 1/4 whatever else I am. It's about thier heritage not their citizenship.
